Emily Nelson, LAPC

Emily's desire is to have her clients seen, known, and loved. Emily's passion lies in walking alongside children, adolescents and young adults in their healing journeys by finding hope, restoration and healthy coping mechanisms.

Emily spends most of her time with family, friends, and is involved in her Church community. She loves to run, find new creative projects, take adventurous trips, and enjoys anything salty and sweet. 

  • Educational Background

    Emily received her Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Mary, in April 2022. She is a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC) in the state of North Dakota.

    In addition, Emily has a degree in Dance, Psychology and Nonprofit Leadership. She is continuously taking courses in Dance/Movement Therapy.

  • Professional Experience

    Emily works with children, adolescents and young adults struggling with anxiety, depression, behavioral concerns, and family relationships. Emily's passion lies in walking with her clients through family of origin trauma. Emily has received additional training in play therapy and dance/movement therapy.

    Emily has experience in working with South African, female adolescents in a residential care facility, aiding children with behavioral concerns in schools, and guiding young men and women in Christian ministries.

  • Treatment Approaches

    Emily takes a whole-person approach using Christian resources and teachings, for those who desire. Emily integrates theories and modalities such as Attachment Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and play therapy. Emily believes in treating the symptoms and the client, as well as providing parental support.
